The Fair Returns: A New Era for Laurel County
The fair is back in London. For the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down in 2020, Laurel County will host a full-scale county fair — the inaugural Southeast Kentucky Fair, running July 21–25, 2026, at the newly redeveloped Wilderness Road Event Center.
A Long-Awaited Return
It's been years since the familiar sights, sounds, and smells of a county fair filled the air in Laurel County. The carnival midway, the livestock shows, the grandstand entertainment, the food vendors frying up funnel cakes and corn dogs — all of it disappeared when the pandemic paused community gatherings across the country. For a community that had grown up with the fair as a summer cornerstone, the absence was deeply felt.
But the wait is over. The Southeast Kentucky Fair marks a new beginning — not a continuation of an old tradition, but the start of a new one. Five days of family-friendly entertainment, agricultural education, and community celebration, all anchored at the Wilderness Road Event Center on Barbourville Road.
A New Venue for a New Fair
The Wilderness Road Event Center is the fair's new home — a versatile, community-focused venue designed to host everything from community gatherings and festivals to large-scale public events. The facility features a spacious indoor pavilion, expansive outdoor grounds, and the infrastructure needed to support a modern county fair.
The Event Center's mission is to serve as a hub for community connection — supporting families, local organizations, and businesses with a reliable place to come together. The Southeast Kentucky Fair is its flagship event, and the venue is ready to deliver a world-class fair experience.
What to Expect at the 2026 Fair
The inaugural Southeast Kentucky Fair brings together the best elements of a traditional county fair with modern entertainment. Paradise Amusements provides the carnival midway with rides and games for all ages. The grandstand features KOI motorcycle racing on opening night, KTA tractor pulls on Thursday and Friday, and live concerts by Kentucky Just Us on Wednesday and Paint Creek on closing Saturday.

4-H and FFA members will showcase their livestock — dairy cattle, beef cattle, swine, goats, sheep, and poultry — with shows running throughout the week. The Exhibit Tent will feature area Homemakers competing with their finest crafts, baked goods, canned goods, and handiwork, continuing a tradition that celebrates the region's agricultural heritage.
More Than a Fair
The Southeast Kentucky Fair is about more than rides and food. It's about community. It's about the 4-H kid who has spent a year raising a steer getting to show it in the ring. It's about the family that makes the fair an annual tradition. It's about the volunteer who pours countless hours into making it all happen.
It's about bringing people together — something that's been missing from Laurel County for far too long. The inaugural Southeast Kentucky Fair isn't just an event. It's a homecoming.
The fair runs July 21–25, 2026, at the Wilderness Road Event Center, 202 Barbourville Road, London, KY. We'll see you there.
